It seems that Miss April has been misbehaving since her arrival, sending severe storms, tornados, along with thunder and lightening. Let’s hope she calms down and gives us some sunny days and quiet nights!
The waterfall at Ferne Clyffe turned into several falls after the heavy rains of last week. Thanks to Tina and Luke Andros for their Facebook photos of the waterfall, and, much appreciated by those of us who couldn’t walk the trail.

The Bald Knob Cross will be the site of the Easter Sunrise Service on April 20; Blessing of the Bikes on May 18; and Blessings of the Jeeps, on June 7. Stay tuned for details.
The River-to-River Trail Society will be hosting a hike on Saturday, Apr. 19 at Crest Trail in Saline County, with Gillum and Vicki Ferguson as trail leaders. Meet at the Tecumseh statue at the Glen O. Jones Lake at 10am. For more, call 630-470-7692.
The “Rekindling the Spirit Youth Rally” will be held at the Eagle House Ministries on Apr. 16, with food served at 6:30pm, followed by the worship service. All area youngsters and their grownups are welcome.
On Easter Sunday, at 6:30am, an Easter Sunrise Service will be held at the Eagle House Ministries, outdoors, weather permitting, on the Route 37 Buncombe Hill.
The chocolate themed gala, “Taste of Chocolate” will be held this year at Walker’s Bluff Casino Resort on Apr. 12, 6-9pm. This delicious event serves as a benefit.
Keep in mind that The Snake Road in the Shawnee Forest is closed to vehicles, as the reptiles and amphibians return to the LaRue Swamps, after a winter on the surrounding bluffs. Hikers can continue to use the road, if they don’t mind sharing it with snakes and turtles.
The Johnson County HCE will again host a Mothers’ Day Luncheon and Silent Auction on Saturday, May 3, 11am to 1:30pm at the Community of Christ Church on Tunnel Hill Road. Tickets, at $12, are now available from members or at the U. of I. Extension Office in Vienna.
Volunteers this week at the Goreville Ministerial Alliance Thrift Shop are members of Grange Hall Church on Apr. 8-10-12. Spring merchandise is ready and waiting for bargain hunters. Scholarship applications are now available at the member churches.
LeAnn Rimes will appear in concert at the Marion Cultural and Civic Center on Thursday, Apr. 17 at 7pm. Order tickets at ilshows.com or marionccc.com.
The Spring Junque Jamboree will take place on the historic Vienna Public Square on Saturday, Apr. 26, an all-day event. Vendors galore will be showing and selling their wares of junque, treasures, food and more, along with entertainment.

Our daughter, Nancy and her husband, Steve Rehder, celebrated their 18th anniversary on April 2 and took a rainy day trip over to Evansville, where they enjoyed dinner at the Cork and Cleaver Restaurant.
Seen on Facebook was our great-grand, Jamison, riding a horse at the Diamond Ranch in Florida, where her kindergarten class was enjoying a field trip.

A pancake breakfast will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Marion on Saturday, Apr. 26, 6:30-10:30am. Everyone is welcome!
The “Fern and Vendor Day” will be taking place at “The Patch” on Pittsburg Road near Marion on Apr. 19, 9am to 4pm, with vendors galore and ferns to take home.
The Johnson County Genealogical and Historical Society will meet at the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery on Sunday, Apr. 13, at 2:30pm. The program will be presented by Brian Bailey, who will demonstrate “grave dowsing.” The public is welcome.
Seen on Facebook was a Goreville native, Andy Huff, now of Harrisburg, who recently celebrated his 105th birthday and is going strong. He stated, “My life has been well-lived!” His brother, the late Frank Huff, who lived all his life in the Goreville area, also lived past his 100th birthday.

Seen on Facebook were our two great-grands of Orange Park, Florida, Jemma and Jamison, who had just viewed the Disney movie, “The New Snow White” and loved it.
The HUB Recreation Center in Marion will host their 4th “Pickleball Tournament” on Apr. 12-13, for all ages. It was originally set for Jan. 11-12, when the ice storm hit.
The hummingbirds will be returning very soon, so get those clean feeders up and filled, to greet them.
