In the September 25, 1996, issue of The Goreville Gazette, these GHS music students were selected for the Regional Band at Shawnee Community College on Oct. 8 at 8:30 pm: Dana Franklin, John Froelich, Mandy Kellums, Christopher Meyers, Lisa Peas and Christy Poole.
Darla Jones was named “Employee of the Month” at Magna Bank of Goreville. She has been an employee since Feb, 1993 and works with customer service and with new accounts.
The Johnson County Heritage Festival will be held in Vienna on Oct. 4-5-6 at the City Park.
The Corner Cafe and Past-Time Collectables will hold a grand opening on Sept. 25-26-27 at the corner of Collins and Broadway Streets. Bob and Betty Taylor are the new owners.
Former Gorevillian, Winston Allen of Texas, was in Goreville visiting friends last week.
Members of the Lick Creek Pentecostal Church enjoyed a hayride around the country roads on Friday night, followed by chili and hot dogs back at the church.

Employed at the recent school board meeting were: Sally Jo Billingsley, as freshmen class sponsor; Donna Whittington, as special education aide; Shawn Tripp, as assistant high school boys basketball coach; Kim Reynolds, as principal aide/Project Success co-ordinator; and re-employment of Denny Parrish, as an extracurricular and substitute bus driver.
Two residents, Sherry Durham and Lloyd Craig, solved the identity of the Mystery photo of last week. Sherry’s name was drawn as the winner of a set of monument cases from American Monument Co. Bonnie Sue Moss was born in a home delivery at the Lee Barham place in Williamson County, the daughter of John and Ruby Barringer Moss on May 29, 1939. She has two sisters, Verna Mae Patterson, Lake of Egypt, Goreville, and Betty Wolaver, Creal Springs.
She attended Cora Grade School and graduated from Goreville High in 1957. She was married to Ronnie Ollis on Oct. 15, 1966, at the First Apostolic Church of Marion. Bonnie has worked at her current position as secretary of the Apostolic Church for 28 years, where she is a member. She lists her hobbby as interior decorating.
