In the November 18, 1992, edition of the local Goreville newspaper, was a photo of  the Reverend and Mrs. Gary Edmonds, missionaries to Taiwan, along with two Chinese girls, who visited the 4th grade of teacher, Robert Schierbaum, at the Goreville School.

“Christmas With Santa Claus” is being sponsored by the Lake Egypt Fire Protection District. Santa will arrive at your home via fire truck and greet your children with a book or puzzle for a donation.  Call for an appointment at 964-1278.

High Honors were earned by these seniors at GHS:  Kristen Gilstrap, Lora Roach, Rebekah Steinmetz,  Patricia Lambert, Eliza Calhoon, Kira Jack, Angie Riepshoff, Candice Allen, Jason Henson, Todd Tripp, Amy Lauderdale, Jerrod Walker.

A community Thanksgiving service will be held at Grange Hall Church on Nov. 25 at 7pm with the pastor, Rev. Kevin McNeeley, being the speaker.  Rev.      A special section on “Thank A Teacher” was seen on page 5.  From Dana Franklin:  “Mrs. Peggy Carroll was my favorite teacher because she treated us like adults.  If we had a question she took time out to explain it.”  From Cassie Jo James:  “My favorite teacher was Mrs. Beverly Bishop, because she lets us sit in groups and gives us candy.  We do fun art.  Other favorites were: Pam Walker, Romelle Kaesar, Irma Stanley, Linda Ferguson, Robby Gunn and Doris Lingle.

The Mystery Photo of last week was Billy Wayne Stearns, who was born on Nov. 12, 1962, at Marion Memorial to Bill and Linda Prater Stearns.

He attended Goreville Schools and graduated from GHS in1981.

Billy moved to Des Plaines, where he lived from 1981-1987, where he worked at K & M Plastics.

     His hobbies include wood working.

Pam Martin Realty offered a nice home in town, with 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, a full basement, with a large family room and utility room, and a detached garage, for $60,000 and a 2-bedroom home, for rent at $250 per month.

And so it was, in Goreville and Lake of Egypt on Nov. 12, 1992.
