DANIEL CHAPMAN DAR CELEBRATES 114TH ANNIVERSARY

By Dixie Terry
The Daniel Chapman Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution celebrated their 114th anniversary on Friday, Nov. 3, 2023, with a Wreath Laying Service and a Chapter Patriot Memorial Service at the Memorial Grave Site of Daniel Chapman in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery at 10 a.m.

The service was led by Regent Doda Starkey and Chaplain Carol Palmer, with the response by those present.

Each member present cited the name of her patriot ancestor, who aided or participated in the Revolutionary War.

The reading of the names of the sixty-five patriots of the Daniel Chapman Chapter was provided by Julia Mowery.

The meeting closed with the reading of the Father of our Country “Washington’s Prayer For Our Nation”: “I now make it my earnest prayer, that God would have the United States in his Holy protection, that he would incline the hearts of the citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to Government, to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another, fo their fellow citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for the brethren who have served in the field, and finally, that he would most graciously be pleased to dispose us all, to do Justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that charity, humility and pacific temper of mind, which were the Characteristicks.”

“Of the Divine Author of our blessed religion and without an humble initiation of whose example in these things, we can never hope to be a happy nation. Amen.”
