Daniel Chapman Chapter National Society Daughters meet

By Dixie Terry
The Daniel Chapman Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution met on January 3, 2022, at the Vienna Carnegie Library, for the annual officers meeting.

The primary purpose of the meeting was to complete information for the Chapter Master Report and the Chapter Achievement Rewards.

The meeting was called to order by Regent Suzan Harvel.

Prior to working on the annual reports, several items were discussed, including possible changes in the chapter year book, that would include photos of members. Regent Harvel will have a sample on display at the February meeting.

In reports, Regent Harvel, Becky Mueller, Melodie Penrod and Doda Starkey participated in the “Wreaths Across America” program on Dec. 14, 2021, at the Mounds City National Cemetery, by placing wreaths. Another wreath was placed on the Daniel Chapman grave site at the Vienna Cemetery by member Starkey.

A memorial service will be held in June, 2022, for the late Charlene James, in recognition of her service as chapter regent in 1971-77.

Those attending the meeting were: Doda Starkey, Loudene Lemme, Vienna; Juanita Broyles, Goreville; Susan Harvel, Tamms; Lynn Moore McCreery, Ozark; Marilyn Meisenheimer, Jonesboro; Julia Mowery, Buncombe.

The next chapter meeting will be on Feb. 14 at 11 a.m. at the P.A.S.T. Heritage House in Jonesboro, with a tea and tour. Linda Hileman will be the speaker. Suzan Harvel and Carolyn Tripp will be hostesses. At 2 p.m. members will meet at the Illinois Veterans Home in Anna for the annual Bingo party for the residents, with hostesses being Sandra Boaz and Peggy Ferguson
