OZARK, IL — Donald C. Treat, age 79 years, a resident of rural Ozark, Illinois, passed away Monday evening, June 22, 2020, at 10:33 PM at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah, Kentucky.
Donald was born September 23, 1940 in Johnson County, Illinois. He was the ninth of ten children born to William “Clarence” and Blanche (Breeden) Treat.
On October 19, 1962, Donald was united in marriage to Brenda F. Colboth at the First Baptist Church in Creal Springs. She survives.
In addition to his wife, Donald is survived by: a son – Jeff (his wife, Mindy) Treat of Ozark; 2 grandsons – Ethan Jeffery Treat and Noah Donald Treat both of Ozark; 2 brothers – Ed Treat of Goreville and Harry Lee Treat and Sharon of New Burnside; 2 sisters-in-law – Doris Treat and Mary Belle Treat both of Ozark; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, along with his church family.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by: 4 sisters – Kathern Rose Douglas, Mary Williams, Joann Cluster, and Judy Treat (who died in childhood); 3 brothers – Jim, Bill, and Kenneth Treat.
Donald was employed as an operating engineer. He was a 50+ year member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local # 318 at Marion, Illinois. Following his retirement, Donald worked for P.K. Trammel as a dozer operator. Among other projects, they constructed a number of ponds throughout the region.
Donald and Brenda were faithful members of the First Pentecostal Church at Ozark. He was instrumental in the construction of the church when it was built in 1968. Donald had served as a church trustee. He and Brenda headed a very successful bus ministry for a number of years.
Donald was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. He also loved to maintain birdhouses for Purple Martins, hosting 12 birds this year.
Above all, Donald was a wonderful family man and faithful Christian. He cherished time spent with his family.
A service honoring the life of Donald Treat will be conducted Friday, June 26, 2020, at 12 Noon at the First Pentecostal Church, 90 Locust Street, Ozark, Illinois. Donald’s son, Pastor Jeff Treat, along with Donald’s nephew, Pastor Bill Douglas and will officiate.
Burial will be in the Wise-Robinson Cemetery, north of Ozark.
Visitation will be conducted Thursday evening, June 25, 2020, from 5 PM – 8 PM at the First Pentecostal Church in Ozark. Additionally, there will be a time of visitation Friday morning, June 26, 2020, from 10 AM until the funeral hour at 12 Noon.
